Knowledge and Compliance with the Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harms among Residents and Tobacco Retailers in Tanh Linh District, Binh Thuan Province in 2024

Abstract
This cross-sectional study on 550 residents and 265 tobacco retailers in Tanh Linh District in 2024 reveals a significant gap between health awareness and legal compliance. Despite over 98% of subjects understanding tobacco harms, specific knowledge of the Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harms remains limited, resulting in low overall compliance rates of 46.2% for residents and only 26.4% for retailers. Regression analysis identified education level, occupation, and information sources as key associated factors (p<0.05). These findings highlight the urgent need for strengthened inspection and targeted legal communication for the local retail sector.
