Bước đầu tìm hiểu lý thuyết ký hiệu học của Roman Jakobson trong dịch thuật

Bài viết giới thiệu về việc xác lập mô hình đưa ký hiệu học vào nghiên cứu dịch thuật dựa trên lý thuyết của Roman Jakobson. Đó chính là dịch ký hiệu (semiotic translation) mà thường được biết đến qua tên gọi “dịch văn hóa” (cultural translation) hay “chuyển vị văn hóa” (cultural transposition). Từ lý thuyết tiên phong của Ferdinand de Saussure và Charles S. Peirce, mối liên hệ giữa nghiên cứu dịch thuật (translation) và ký hiệu học (semiotics) được xem xét đến vào khoảng từ cuối thế kỷ 19 đến đầu thế kỷ 20. Chính Saussure, dù là người không theo lối tiếp cận từ góc độ ký hiệu học, đã giới thiệu vai trò của ký hiệu học (semiotics) như một ngành khoa học độc lập và khai thác các khía cạnh tư duy ký hiệu học mà không dựa vào cấu trúc. Bài viết cũng đề cập đến việc Roman Jakobson (1959/1969) đã ủng hộ hướng tiếp cận này và phát triển lý thuyết dịch ký hiệu vì ông cho rằng thuyết này giúp ích nhiều trong dịch thuật nên ứng dụng ký hiệu học vào dịch thuật để được hiện thực hóa trong và thông qua cơ chế phổ quát của ký hiệu học và ngược lại. Ông phân định dịch thuật theo ba loại hình: dịch nội ngữ (intralingual translation), dịch liên ngữ (interlingual translation) và dịch liên ký hiệu (intersemiotic translation). Đồng thời bài viết cũng đưa ra những ưu và khuyết điểm của lý thuyết này mà đã có thể giúp ích nhiều trong dịch thuật chẳng hạn như người ta có thể sử dụng “một từ khác, ít nhiều đồng nghĩa, hoặc dùng đến lối nói vòng” trong dịch nội ngữ. Sau cùng, bài viết này là gợi mở nền tảng lý thuyết của dịch ký hiệu cho những người làm chuyên ngành dịch thuật hay các nghiên cứu sinh chuyên ngành dịch thuật một khái niệm ban đầu về phương pháp dịch thuật mới (dịch ký hiệu), từ đó giúp cho dịch thuật theo phong cách cũ luôn bám vào cấu trúc ngôn ngữ giải quyết được vấn đề không thể dịch (untransability) và cũng sẽ thoát được tình trạng khó dịch (translation difficulty).
